Spring is here and Summer is on the way. That means lots of time to spend outside and enjoy the warmer weather.  I've been revamping my backyard all Spring. I removed some of the St. Augustine grass and decided to create a courtyard or basically an outdoor living room.  My home is a 1937 Spanish Revival so I built this collection around items that would work in my space.

Everything is very natural in my courtyard. The space is decomposed granite filled with terra cotta, black and white planters.  I wanted to keep the palette simple ( no bold colors) and the materials very simple ( metal and stone). I am in love with that vertical garden and hope to create something like soon if I can fit it into the space. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration and go outside and create your own special outdoor space. Happy planting!

With the warmer weather we all tend to naturally want to be outside and enjoy nature.  For some of us this means more two wheeled transportation. That's probably why May is National Bike Month because it's one of the best times to enjoy riding a bike.  I know that in my neighborhood cycling is a big deal. We have miles and miles of bike trails near the lake and many dedicated cyclists. I've handpicked items for your bike and yourself. My personal favorite is the bike planter, especially if you find some flowers while riding.  So don't forget your helmet and get out there and get in gear this May!

Each year, I watch for that last patch of snow to melt on my garden so I can start working the soil and planting my seeds.  Jillian and I both live on the east coast, but being further down the coast - warmer temps visit her before they do me.  She can happily play in the dirt while I still tend to my indoor plants and dream of getting my fingernails dirty.  Do you live in an area where you don't have space for a garden outside?  Not to worry - Today, Jillian highlight's a variety of ways to invite some spring green both inside and out!  Even if you're not able to till the soil and rotate your crops, you can still enjoy the beauty of spring gardens in your home!

As I write this the birds are chirping outside my window.  They wake me up around 6 every morning and even before sunrise.  That's what I love about the first weeks of Spring. Along with the birds, comes the all the new growth in the garden. Everything is starting to sprout out of the ground and soon all the plants will be in BLOOM.  It's the amazing and wonderful part of nature that never gets old. In the sprit of the season the four of us ( Amber, Cinne, Jillian and Nanako) gathered up our favorite Etsy finds for our current trend page IN BLOOM.  It's a fanciful mix of flowers, plants, and everything that feels like Spring.

What's your favorite part of the Spring season?

How is spring treating you so far? Hopefully the snow has melted and the sun is showering you with its golden rays. We asked our amazing group of stylists to create collections of handmade and vintage finds that were perfect for Spring. This collection by Mirta of Modern Botanics Shop really embraced the beauty of indigo and cobalt blue and shibori dyed fabrics , all of which are on trend!
