I've got an obsession with house plants. I currently have almost 40 plants in my house and I love each and every one of them. Plants just make me happy!  I've actually gone through probably hundreds of plants over the years, trying to get just the right plant for the right light.  If you are obsessed like me with houseplants, then you probably also love planters and well anything botanical.  I've picked out just a few of my favorites featuring concrete, ceramic, brass and copper.

On this last day of March, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring like weather and the beginning of a blossoming floral season.  Soon, I'll be able to work outside in my garden and prepare the soil for the many veggies and flowers I love to plant each year.  While I stare out the window and try to melt the snow with the intensity of my gaze, I'm dreaming of soft and feminine flowers.  Luckily, we don't have to wait for warmer temps to invite blossoming florals into our space - these handmade artisans make it easy to do so!  Whether it's a photograph or a felted brooch, we can surround ourselves with the beauty of Mother Nature all year round!

Sarah :: the artist behind Created by Storm

Let's get to know Sarah of Created by Storm! She's an artist living in colorful Colorado where she creates original paintings, prints, papergoods and textiles. All of her archival prints are done in house with high quality inks in her studio space to look as close to the original as possible. You can find out even more about her process and inspirations in this studio tour interview we did with her last year.

"Nature has and always will be a great love of mine. It really has defined me as a person. We live in an incredible world; it is hard not to be inspired by it on some level. Even the simplicities of nature can create the most astounding beauty. My goal is to capture the beauty of nature and share it through my work."

By this time of year, I can pretty confidently say that I am totally over winter.  I don't want to play in the snow anymore, nor do I want to shovel another inch of white water crystals.  I want sunshine, flip flops, tank tops...to feel like I live in a salad - you know?  A pretty salad with mesclun greens and purple carrots, heirloom tomatoes with pecans, tossed with a zesty citrus vinaigrette.  Ok, well clearly what I wanted to say was that I want to eat a salad - not necessarily live in one!  But wait a minute - tending my garden is kinda like living in a salad.  I love eating cherry tomatoes right off the vine and picking fresh arugula for a quick salad.  Come on, you're talking to a girl who grew up wanting to eat salads over birthday cakes!  Yes - it's true.  I'm delirious from winter and I cannot wait for gardening weather to arrive!!  Until then - my garden dreams will have to do.
