In our post last Friday titled dining al fresco, Cinne created a virtual outdoor dining environment that would inspire anyone to pull out the tea lights and set the table! Cinne's post got me thinking about one of the things I adore about summer - dinner gatherings! Summer is a time when people here on the east coast come out of hibernation and life becomes busy with a variety of social activities. I love having friends over for dinner and wanted to create my own version of Cinne's post centered around "dining". For my dinner gathering, I wanted to explore the intersection of modern and vintage - I love the idea of having a beautifully modern table with weathered vintage chairs as my foundation and then building upon that core design. I stayed with a very earthy palette of blue grays and wood tones to set the stage for the colorful summer foods that would fill bowls and plates. I wanted the modern and vintage decor to create the perfect setting for lively conversation and lots of laughter - a welcoming space for a party!
What do you think of mixing modern & vintage - let me know in the comments below!
