Let It Shine :: Shiny Happy Things

As the temperature cools down, it seems like everything warms up in home decor and fashion. Still on trend and maybe hotter than in past seasons are metals. For the last few years it's been silver and brass and this season I've seen more and more gold and now copper!  Whatever shade of metal you prefer they all look their shiny best when paired with warm neutrals like gray or charcoal black. You want the metal to shine all on it's own and not to compete with a busy color palette.

I'm currently remodeling a home that has original brass door handles from 1937. A few years ago I might have overlooked them thinking I should upgrade them to something, well less brassy. Now I'm looking at them at little pieces of jewelry that will not only preserve an original piece of my home, but also as an starting point for adding other shades of brass and metallic to the house.

What is your favorite metallic and how will you be using it this season?
