Our Style Guide Challenge this month took inspiration from that time of year when many are getting ready to get back to school. Our theme Get Back inspired many creative titles and themes, but we both loved this sweet collection by Carolyn of Romy & Clare titled Stop and Retreat! Using red as her base color palette, Carolyn has painted a scene where you can practically smell the crisp morning air as you wait at the bus stop. You know that distinct feeling? Her shopping guide is filled with items which evoke the feeling of going back to school and useful items which are a must on the "going back to school" list! Congratulations on being our August Style Guide Challenge winner, Carolyn!
Each month, we have the pleasure of exploring all the Style Guides and have so much fun experiencing Etsy through the eyes of our curators. It's such an easy and enjoyable way to navigate Etsy and discover new items which are presented in beautifully curated shopping guides. We always like to highlight some of our favorites here on the blog, but do take the time to check out the whole list!
Jillian of Jillian Rene Decor took the challenge theme and takes us "back" to nature with her Style Guide Surround Yourself with Nature. Using her eye for not only design, but a keen understanding of color balance - Jillian has curated a shopping guide which feels like hiking up a mountain on a misty morning. Earthy and filled with the warm tones of nature in the fall, this guide sure makes me want to pack my backpack and pull out the hiking boots! A real organic fit for the naturalist in all of us, Jillian!
Kelly of 88 editions took a unique angle with her interpretation of our Get Back theme by taking us within on a vision quest! She takes us on a journey into the dessert with her brown tones punctuated with turquoise. Kelly's clean and crisp selections create a mood of clarity as the eyes settle into the overall story unfolding in her guide. An awesome collection for the minimal southwestern lover in your life! Now you're starting to see how shopping on Etsy really does become fun when our curators share their creative "visions" with us! A beautiful way to "get back" in touch with nature and oneself, Kelly!
We're in for a real treat with this collection here by Maria of o bliss jewellery titled I wanna be in Miss Honey's class! Aside from the fact that it's a beautifully balanced Style Guide, how many of you can relate to wanting to be in "Miss Honey's" class? I sure can! Maria takes us back to those days when we longed to be in that one particular teacher's class with her retro chic styled shopping guide. She's captured the excitement of being back in school with her modern layout which is accented with splashes of green tones. Can you hear the lockers clanking shut and giggles in the hallway? I'm passing notes at lunch time to see what class you ended up in. Now, I want to know if Maria was ever actually in Miss Honey's class!
In keeping with tradition, we are ending this post with a Style Guide by our resident curator Jenn of Palimpsestic. We always have a good time experiencing the theme through Jenn's eyes and each month we wonder what kind of adventure she'll take us on! Well, you are welcome to come along on a road trip this month with Jenn's collection Thought He Was a Loner! Jenn's love of words translates into her love of telling a story - only here, she's using images. She blends a southwestern vibe with a Californian beat of an easy, free life while focusing on the warm tones of autumn. A shopping guide that is sure to be a hit with the "dude" in your life! Thank you for the smiles and good cheer each month, Jenn! It's always a pleasure!
